EMMI Partners with Unido to Redefine Carbon Emissions Management with Enterprise-Grade Blockchain Services — Part 1
EMMI has partnered with Unido to build a trustless, transparent, secure, and scalable blockchain solution to overcome issues pertaining to the gathering, storing, and reporting of critical carbon emissions data.
Carbon emissions data is an integral driver of corporate investment decisions and must be reliable, accurate, and error-proof. EMMI selected the Unido platform to leverage the Unido Core API which will help corporate users of the EMMI platform protect their signing key and create “signing committees” — verifiable and auditable record-keepers of emissions data for industries and applications of all types.
As a customizable, configurable, scalable, secure, and easy-to-use application, the new Unido-powered EMMI authenticator will make it easy for companies to roll out and manage their carbon emissions management solution.
Carbon emissions and global warming have long been recognized as an existential threat to humanity. Changes in weather patterns, flooding, and forest fires lead to economic losses in the hundreds of billions of dollars every year. The UN’s Sustainable Development Goals — a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all — includes important initiatives on climate change and carbon emissions management.
The issue, however, is that meeting the UN’s sustainability goals requires huge investments from corporations, individuals, industries, and more — everyone in the interconnected global village of today. Carbon emissions compliance and offset markets have been used for many years to create economic incentives for large institutions, industrial manufacturers, and other enterprises to purchase carbon credits and invest in carbon sequestering, but accurately recording and managing carbon emissions data to guide these decisions can be difficult and has long posed serious challenges to the efficacy of these efforts.
EMMI was built to help asset owners, asset managers, and corporate entities understand the cost and impact of their carbon emissions so that they can make better, smarter, and lower-risk investment decisions. It helps users improve ROI and deliver a competitive advantage to shareholders and investors via better carbon risk management of investments and portfolios.
